The most common injury climbers report on a daily basis is inflammation of the elbows, knees, shoulders and fingers. As we all know climbing can put a lot of stress on our joints. From falling off boulders to crimping your face off, this inflammation can cause discomfort and lead to more serious injuries in the future. Reducing inflammation is the #1 way to reduce these injuries and reducing the probability of developing more serious injuries.
What Is Bromelain?
Bromelain is hands down the coolest ingredient in our Climber Pre-Workout. It is a natural enzyme extracted from the stem of a pineapple! This extract has many health and performance benefits and has been used in many studies from preventing cancer to reducing joint pain.
Benefits Of Bromelain
Bromelain has been studied to provide many benefits but the most important two for climbing purposes are:
Helps digest nutrients
- Bromelain is an enzyme that specifically helps with digesting proteins and has been shown to help your body digest nutrients.
Helps reduce inflammation
- Bromelain has been widely known for it's powerful anti-inflammatory properties and has been used primarily for acute inflammation and sports injuries.
Why bromelain and how does it benefit a climber?
Bromelain's powerful anti-inflammatory and digestion benefits are the main reasons we incorporated it into our Climber Pre-Workout +. Having an ingredient that promotes digestion makes digestion of our product quicker and less strenuous on the stomach. As this isn't a problem for most people, some people have troubles finding a product that's easier on the stomach. It's powerful anti inflammatory properties benefits climbers by reducing, or preventing, inflammation in the areas most commonly inflamed during climbing (elbows, wrists, knees, finger joints etc.). This will allow you to climb at your max longer and reduce the time needed to rest between climbs.
